Generation Arts Featured in a new academic book
Founder and Director Ali Godfrey has contributed a chapter to Witnessing Change: Applied Theatre and Youth Agency (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025).
Her chapter, “Trusting the Process: Risky Devising and Mapping Radical Change,” explores the Generation Arts model of safe space and risky devising, and reflects on nearly 15 years of our work with young people facing barriers to training and employment in the arts.
The book brings together leading practitioners and academics in the field of applied theatre, and highlights Generation Arts’ continuing role in shaping inclusive creative practice.
We were inviting participants to develop an altogether different relationship with risk – one in which they seek it out and move towards it in a conscious manner.
